What adintel and its Chrome extension collect, and what they do with it. Last updated October 23, 2026.
The Chrome extension
The extension runs only on facebook.com/ads/library, library.tiktok.com, ads.tiktok.com/business/creativecenter, linkedin.com/ad-library, instagram.com and on the adintel site you connect it to. It does nothing on any other page and does not read your browsing history.
- What it reads: the public ad or post data those pages already show and load (advertiser name and id, ad text, links, dates, platforms, image and video addresses; on LinkedIn also the ad's public detail page when you save from the search results). It keeps that in memory only while the page is open.
- What it sends: only the ads you click Save on, to the adintel server you signed in to. Nothing is sent anywhere else, and nothing is sent until you click.
- Download: saves the ad's image or video straight to your computer. No copy goes to us.
- Sign-in: your email and password go directly to your adintel server over HTTPS and are exchanged for a key stored in the extension's own storage on your computer. Signing out in the popup, or revoking the key under Chrome extension in adintel, ends it.
- No tracking: no analytics, no ads, no third-party scripts, no sale or sharing of data.
Permissions the extension asks for
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| facebook.com/ads/library | to add the Save and Download buttons to the ad cards |
| library.tiktok.com, ads.tiktok.com/business/creativecenter, linkedin.com/ad-library, instagram.com | the same buttons on TikTok and LinkedIn ads and on Instagram posts and reels |
| adintel site | to send saved ads to your library and check which ads are already saved |
| storage | to remember your sign-in key and chosen board on this computer |
| downloads | to save images and videos to your Downloads folder when you click Download |
The adintel service
- Account data: your name, email and a salted password hash. Used to sign you in and to show who did what inside your team space.
- Ad library data: public advertising records from Meta's Ad Library, plus any ads your team saves or uploads. Uploaded ("own") ads are visible only inside the space that uploaded them.
- Processing: saved creatives may be sent to an AI provider (OpenRouter / Anthropic) to tag them and transcribe videos. Only the creative itself is sent, never your account details.
- Where it lives: on the server your team runs (database and media storage chosen by the account owner). Deleting a brand or board removes its data; deleting your account removes your profile and sessions.
- Product analytics: we use PostHog to see which features get used and to replay a session when something goes wrong, so the product can be fixed. It records the pages you open and the buttons you click under your account and workspace, and it masks everything you type. Our servers send it the same actions (a brand tracked, a board made, a plan changed). The Chrome extension sends nothing to it.
- Cookies: one login cookie, plus PostHog's
ph_*cookie that tells one visit from the next. No advertising cookies.
Your choices
Uninstall the extension at any time from chrome://extensions; nothing stays behind except the ads you already saved to your library. To remove those, delete them from the board or brand page. Questions: contact the owner of your adintel workspace.
